Waterproof Electrical Connectors - IP Rating
The universal IP rating system ensures user confidence in the safety of electrical or mechanical goods in specific environments. The term "Waterproof" will depend on the Ingress protection rating that the customer requires for their specific application. Please Note: The Connector IP Rating, when mated
Circular Connectors have a water and dustproof IP rating when mated with the correct corresponding IP rated connector. When not connected the IP rating will cease, some series offer a sealing cap/dust cap that will give you the option to seal or protect the open-end connection. Some connector series may provide an IP rated solution in both mated and unmated conditions, please always refer to the manufacturer's datasheet to confirm.

These waterproof electrical connectors come in different mounting types such as cable mount and Inline connectors. Attach to cable ends, enabling the connection of cables to devices as well as inline cable connections. The Free-hanging connectors are suitable for rugged environments. The board mount connectors for example are PCB circular connectors that are soldered onto a board letting you attach them to your wiring. Also, we have panel mount connectors that are affixed to panels, or equipment either front, rear, bulkhead, or flange mount, enabling users to connect power, signal, or data cables.
This series has several coupling mechanism forms like Quick Connect, and Snap Lock - compression type with a quick release and tool-free installation. Threaded versions that screw together, they are often found in field assembly. Bayonet fastening type is where you insert and twist with a secure spring mechanism to lock. Push-pull prevents accidental disconnects, to release just squeeze the connector body.
Terminal method options include crimping, by compressing metal parts with a tool to connect the contacts to wires. Also, soldering is where you would melt solder to create a permanent bond to the contact allowing the electricity to flow through the connection. The M12 plug connector and M12 sockets along with the other sizes may have the plug or socket contact inserts already loaded.
The metric connector series can protect against EMI/ RFI as there are shielded versions available as well as unshielded types.
