Core Modules

Core modules are powerful, secure and compact network-enabled processors that are used in computer or electrical systems. Theyre types of embedded systems, and can be fixed in their purpose or programmable. How do core modules work?Core modules use a microcontroller or microprocessor – a component that performs the instructions and tasks involved in computer processing – to perform their job. They're a stand-alone computing device with no operating system. Key benefits of core modules include:

  • Low power consumption and compact in size
  • Expected to work without human involvement
  • Ability to observe, react and control the external environment
Core module applicationsCore modules can be used in many products in your home or working environment. Examples include small products like home security systems, digital cameras, televisions and 3D printers. They are also used in larger devices such as cars or medical scanners.
