Hinges
A hinge is a mechanical device that creates a flexible connection between two parts. A hinge allows a component such as door, gate or lid, to rotate or pivot around a fixed point in order to open or close whilst maintaining stability and alignment.
Types of Hinge
There are many different types of hinge suitable for a wide range of applications including door hinges, cabinet hinges and gate hinges, some of the most popular ones are as follows:
Butt Hinges: Butt Hinges are the most common type of hinge which consist of two rectangular plates joined in the middle by a rod or a pin
Piano Hinges: Piano Hinges are also known as continuous hinges, they are long and narrow and run the full length of a door or lid
Concealed Hinges: Concealed Hinges or hidden hinges are concealed within the door leaving no hardware visible.
Spring Hinges: Spring Hinges also known as self-closing hinges contain a spring mechanism that automatically close a door after opening.
Tee Hinges: Tee Hinges are shaped like the letter ˈTˈ with the long strap attached to the door or gate and the butt type hinge attached to a frame or panel.
