The B&R Industrial Automation GmbH Bus Controller enables connection of X2X Link I/O nodes to Modbus via Ethernet. It can be operated on B&R controllers using Automation Studio or on third-party systems with Modbus TCP or UDP master functionality. Modbus UDP uses connectionless communication over UDP/IP, offering faster and simpler data exchange, but requires error detection and correction to be handled at the application layer.
