Allen Bradley Guardmaster MT-GD2 Safety Interlock Switch, Standard

Improve safe-access to machinery for operators and keep your guard door secure with the MT-GD2 Safety Interlock Switch by Allen Bradley Guardmaster.

The MT-GD2 switches are tongue (or key) operated safety interlocking devices. They are expertly designed to be fitted on the leading edge of hinged, sliding, and lift-off guards. This resilient interlock switch has a rotatable head and dual entry slots, providing eight different points for actuator entry to give you improved application flexibility. The head is also secured with tamper-resistant screws. This affordable and compact switch is 117 x 40 x 43 mm with DIN 50041 standard fixing centres and includes forced guided contacts. It is designed to be easily installed. It is also sealed to IP67, making it perfect for use in harsh industrial environments as it is fully protected from dust ingress and can withstand some immersion in water.

To operate the MT-GD2 interlock switch a specially profiled, stainless-steel actuator must be inserted. This should be permanently attached to the guard door. This device provides reliable electrical interlocking of the guard door and the machine’s control circuit. This ensures that power to the machine is isolated while the guard door is open, preventing access to dangerous areas where machinery is running and minimising risk of injury to personnel. This versatile switch can be used as part of a system for higher-risk applications as it is available with a variety of contact configurations.

Features and Benefits:

• 8 possible actuator entry positions including front and end entry, rotatable head
• Tamper-resistant screws
• Forced guided contacts - complies with EN 1088, IEC 947-5-1
• Die-cast metal body with painted zinc for enhanced corrosion resistence
• Contacts break actuation travel; 6mm
• Operating temperature: -20 to +80°C
• DIN 50041 footprint
• Sealed to IP67: fully protected against dust ingress and some water immersion
• CE marked in accordance with relevant European Directives

Approvals: UL, TUV

The 440K-MT55002 safety interlock switch has 4 contacts: 3NC (Normally Closed)/1NO (Normally Open). It does not feature an actuator. It has Break Before Make action (opens the first set of contacts before closing new contacts), and M20 conduit entry.

Allen Bradley Guardmaster have a huge range of machine safety switches and components to help you create a flawless safe-access system at low-cost. Their products are rigorously tested and built to high global standards to give your personnel the highest degree of protection and keep your operations running smoothly and efficiently.

How does a Safety Interlock Switch work?

Safety Interlock Switches work by keeping machine guards and gates securely locked until the power supply is disconnected. They can also keep the power isolated while the barrier is open. This vital function minimises risk of injury to operators as they are restricted from accessing dangerous machinery which may be in motion. They can also be used to monitor the position or status of the guard. They are usually used in industrial applications, such as safeguarding factory production lines. They can vary in lock type, maximum current and voltage, and housing material. Safety-rated interlock switches are specifically designed to meet high safety standards. Allen Bradley Guardmaster switches are built to global standards to provide exceptional quality and reliability.

Note

This device can be used with Guardlink, a new safety linking technology from Allen Bradley Guardmaster.
Guardlink simplifies and reduces the connection time of the safety system, whilst providing real-time diagnostic information over Ethernet IP. This makes it simple to identify the location of the device that has tripped the system, thus reducing downtime, and improving the machines overall efficiency. For more details, please go to the Guardlink brochure.
