440K-H11145 Trojan EX Safety Interlock Switch

The 440K-H11145 Trojan 5 EX unit is a tongue operated safety switch which can be used in explosive environments, offering greater durability and reliability for your application. This switch has 2NC contacts, a maximum voltage rating of 240VAC/250VDC, and a 2m cable. It works by isolating the power supply to the machine when the barrier is open. The Trojan switches are ideal for use with hinged, lift-off, and sliding doors and gates. To operate the switch the key must be fixed to the door and can then be inserted into the switch.

The EX range by Allen Bradley Guardmaster ensures improved protection for equipment and personnel in dangerous areas where explosions are possible. In the US and Canada, these products can be used in areas classified as class 1, division 2 in groups A (acetylene), B (hydrogen), C (ethylene), and D (propane).

Features and Benefits:

• Explosion-proof guard-locking safety switch – perfectly suited for hazardous areas

• Positive mode action, flameproof contact block

• Suitable for use in European zone 1 and 2 environments

• Part of EX range but has the same features and operating principles as conventional Trojan switches

• IP66 enclosure protection – dust-tight and can withstand powerful jets of water

What is a Safety Interlock Switch?

A safety interlock switch is a device which keeps guard doors and gates securely locked to prevent access to areas where dangerous machinery may be in operation, minimalising the risk of injury to personnel and damage to machinery. They can also be used to monitor the status of the machine guard, and to ensure that machinery cannot start up or run while the guard door is open. They are often utilised in industrial applications, such as safeguarding factory production lines. They can vary in lock type, maximum current and voltage, and housing material. Safety-rated interlock switches are specifically designed to meet high machine safety standards.

Rockwell Automation is a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, and brings smart manufacturing to life. With a long legacy of creating Allen-Bradley® integrated control and information solutions, we help make you as productive as possible. Our portfolio of sensing, safety and motor control products can support your move towards smart machine applications. Allen-Bradley® IO-Link sensors are data-enabled and communicate with all field buses, providing diagnostic and health information about the device before a machine stops, and enabling quick production changeovers through fast parameter downloads from PLCs into the device. This reduces machine downtime and increases manufacturing OEE. For safety components, products with built-in diagnostics simplify the set-up of the smart device, and reduce maintenance, leading to a more efficient, machine data-driven approach.
