Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440E Lifeline 4 Ex Cable Switch with E-Stop, Hazardous Area

The Lifeline 4 Ex Cable Pull Switch from the Guardmaster Ex range provides a constant emergency stop function for personnel and is designed specifically for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, helping to provide a superior level of protection.

This range of devices include a sealed flameproof contact block, which makes them suitable for use in European Zone 1 and 2 environments. These grab wire switches conform to the exacting standards required by the European harmonised standards for maximum reliability. Due to the flameproof enclosure of the contact block, any internal explosion that occurs will be contained within the enclosure.

Contact block approvals: 112G EExd IIC T6 or T5 and 11 2D T80°C IP66.

EEx equipment conforms to types of protection standardised by CENELEC (European standards), EN50014 and EN50018 respectively and BS5501 parts 1-V.

The 440E Lifeline 4 has a rope status indicator, allowing for simple set up and easy maintenance. It also features a mushroom head emergency stop button for E-stop access at the extreme ends of the span, sealed to IP66. It has a positive mode mechanism, ensuring that the contacts are instantly latched open upon actuation. They can be reset only through intentional action by turning the blue reset knob. Rugged stainless-steel housing ensures that the Lifeline 4 can withstand harsh environments.

How it works: Allen Bradley Guardmaster Rope Pull Switches have a steel wire rope which is connected to latching pull switches, so that when the rope is pulled in any direction along the length the switch is instantly tripped to stop the machine, minimising risk of injury and risk of damage to machinery. These safety devices are well suited for use along or around awkward machinery, such as conveyor belts.

Features and Benefits:

• Ideally suited for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
• Positive mode action, flameproof contact block
• Suitable for use in European Zone 1 and 2 environments
• US and Canada: Class 1, Division 2 in Groups A, B, C and D
• Same safety features and operating principles of conventional Guardmaster switches

Note:

2 of the 3 cable access points are sealed to meet Ex. Spec. Access is therefore restricted to one point of ingress: underside entry.

440E-H13046 Cable Pull Switch

The 440E-H13046 Lifeline 4 is an explosion proof Rope Pull Switch with Emergency Stop button which has 1NC (Normally Closed) Safety Contact and 1NO (Normally Open) Auxiliary Contact and features a 2m cable span. The safety interlock switch is actuated by the push-button for an immediate halt, ensuring a constant access emergency stop facility.

What is a cable pull switch?

A cable pull switch, also known as grab wire switches or rope pull switches, are a common type of emergency stop device and safeguarding measure. They allow personnel to stop moving machinery anywhere along its length instead of at just one point on the machine and can be used over a long distance. This is useful if there is a chance that someone may become entangled in lengthy moving machinery, such as conveyor belts. These devices are hung by a wire around the machinery and can be operated by pulling the cord. This isolates the circuit and stops the hazard.
