Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440E-D13118 Lifeline 3 Cable Switch

Provide optimal protection for personnel around moving machinery by ensuring constant and easy emergency stop access with the 440E Lifelife 3 Cable Switch, 30m span, by Allen Bradley Guardmaster. This device is designed to meet the stringent requirements of ISO 13850 (Safety of Machinery—Emergency Stop Equipment).

The Cable Pull switches have a steel wire rope which is connected to latching pull switches, so that when the rope is pulled in any direction along the length the switch is tripped to stop the machine, minimising risk of injury and risk of damage to machinery.

The 440E-D13118 Lifeline 3 switch has 2 Normally Closed, 2 Normally Open contact configuration and switches a span of up to 30 m (98 ft). It has M20 conduit entry and an operating temperature of -20°C to +80°C (-4…+176 °F). The enclosure has an environmental protection rating of IP67, which ensures that it is both dust-tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water. The housing material is made of robust heavy-duty painted zinc-based die-cast alloy to withstand hard conditions, ensuring optimal durability. It also has a yellow body with a blue reset button for quick and easy identification in a panic situation. It has an electrical current rating of 2A at a voltage rating 24VDC and a current rating 4A at a voltage rating 600VAC. This switch is perfectly suited for use with awkward machinery, such as conveyor belts.

This grab wire switch features a cable status indicator for easy set up and system maintenance. It also has a positive mode mechanism, ensuring that the contacts are instantly latched open upon actuation. They can be reset only through intentional action by turning the blue reset knob. Its design defends against nuisance tripping and the effects of thermal expansion.

Features and Benefits:

• Ease-of-installation and use due to universal mounting and operation
• Cable status indicator on the switch lid provides simple set up and maintenance
• Superior safety - Switch lockout on cable pulled and cable slack
• Tension force is 188N lock-out, 103N running, operating force is less than 125N (300 mm Deflection)
• Safety contact gap is less than 2mm x 2mm
• Industry standard fixing centres to DIN/EN 50041

Note:
This safety device can be used with GuardLink™, a new safety linking technology from Allen Bradley Guardmaster. GuardLink™ simplifies and reduces the connection time of the safety system, whilst providing real-time diagnostic information over Ethernet IP. This makes it simple to identify the location of the device that has tripped the safety system, thus reducing downtime, and improving the machines overall efficiency. For more details, please go to the GuardLink™ brochure.

RS rope switch kits contain all fittings necessary for installation. Available in 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75m lengths. See Grabwire Accessories.

What is a cable pull switch?

A cable pull switch, also known as grab wire switches or rope pull switches, are a common type of emergency stop device and safeguarding measure. They allow personnel to stop moving machinery anywhere along its length instead of at just one point on the machine and can be used over a long distance. This is useful if there is a chance that someone may become entangled in lengthy moving machinery, such as conveyor belts. These devices are hung by a wire around the machinery and can be operated by pulling the cord. This isolates the circuit and stops the hazard.
