Honeywell 14CE Series Limit Switch, 5A Switching Current, IP65, IP68 - 14CE1-1

This limit switch provides reliable mechanical position detection for industrial control and automation systems. It uses a plunger actuator to register actuation events and offers snap‑action contacts in a single‑pole double‑throw arrangement suitable for switching control circuits. The device is built for panel mounting in environments where ingress protection and robust enclosure materials are required.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap‑action SPDT contact for fast, decisive switching
• Mechanical rating of 10,000,000 operations for long service life
• Operating force of 11.8 N reduces false actuation from vibration
• Switching capability of 250V AC and 30V DC for control circuits
• Cable termination enabling straightforward wiring in panels
• Wide IP protection to IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68 for harsh conditions

Applications

• Suitable for position sensing on conveyor actuators in manufacturing
• Ideal for end‑of‑travel detection on industrial valves and dampers
• Used with control panels requiring panel‑mounted limit feedback
• Can be used for safety interlocks where repeatability matters

What enclosure material helps resist mechanical damage?

The outer casing is MADE from die‑cast zinc, providing a robust metallic Shell that resists impact and maintains alignment of internal components.

How does the switch behave across temperature extremes?

It is specified to operate between 0°C and a maximum of 70°C, ensuring consistent electrical and mechanical performance within that range.

How is the device mounted and wired in control equipment?

It is designed for panel‑orientation mounting and uses a cable‑style Terminal for electrical connection directly to control wiring looms.

Are there recognised standards for its design and safety?

The unit conforms to CE/EN/IEC standards, indicating it meets applicable European and international electrical and safety design criteria.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Warning

14CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can incur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 14CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 14CE limit switch also meets NEMA, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
