SKF Plain Self-Aligning Ball Bearing, 17mm ID, 40mm OD - 1203 ETN9

This self-aligning ball bearing from SKF is the ideal solution in setups where the shaft is tricky to align with its housing or may bend during operation. As an open-end bearing, it's easy to lubricate, and the steel construction combines strength with the ability to withstand corrosion. A parallel bore means the unit can be mounted directly onto a shaft, without needing an adapter sleeve. The balls are spaced and their radial spaces are maintained by a cage made from polyamide (PA) reinforced with fibreglass for added strength.

• High capacity for supporting radial loads

• Can also support small axial loads

• Double row of bearings offers higher load capacity than single-row bearings

Applications

• Centrifugal separators

• Cereal mills

• Ring-spinning machines for yarn production

What kind of loads are self-aligning ball bearings best suited to?

Self-aligning ball bearings are best suited to loads of low and medium sizes. They create less friction than other types of bearing, meaning they generate low heat when running at high speeds.

How can I recognise a self-aligning ball bearing?

Distinctive features of a self-aligning ball bearing include a double row of balls, an inner ring with two uninterrupted raceway grooves and a common sphered raceway in the outer ring.
