Duracell was established in the 1920s with a number of innovations that transformed battery technology. Among these inventions was the first mercury cell, which delivered greater capacity into a smaller solution and was less susceptible to the challenges of harsh climates in which previous technologies simply couldn't hold up.

Duracell went on to create the AAA battery and made improvements to the alkaline manganese battery, making it more compact, durable, and longer lasting than anything before it.
