The Microchip 4th generation USB 2.0 flash card media that provides the interface between a USB host controller and flash media cards. It is identical to the USB2228 without the support for xD-Picture Card™. It provides a single chip solution for the most popular flash memory cards in the market. The device consists of a USB 2.0 device PHY and SIE, buffers, Fast 8051 microprocessor with expanded scratchpad, and program SRAM, and CF, MS, SM and SD controllers. The device can support up to 4 slot operation. Provision for external flash Memory up to 64K bytes for program storage is provided. Customers benefit from the high quality on chip ROM code that is compatibility and compliance tested for the latest format support.
