Eaton Residual Current Circuit Breakers with Over-current Protection (RCBOs) - PXK Series

The PXK series of residual current breakers with over current protection (RCBOs) from Eaton protect against two types of fault by combining the functionality of an RCD & MCB into a single device. Providing standard residual current device (RCD) protection against earth leakage and electric shock whilst also providing standard miniature circuit breaker overcurrent protection in the form of electrical overloads and short circuits. As this RCBO device protects against both faults it can prevent nuisance trips and can be used on consumer units and mission critical circuits.

Features & Benefits

• RCD & MCB combination switch
• Single pole
• Sensitivity to pulse current
• Breaking Capacity of 10 kA
• Compatible with standard busbar
• IEC / EN 61439
• Min. Operating temperature: -25 ° C
• Max working temperature: +40 ° C

What are the differences between the Tripping Curves?

Type A: Instantaneous trip with the electrical current this 2 to 3 times the rated current. Type A RCBOs protect against special forms of residual pulsating DC which have not been smoothed.

Type B: Instantaneous trip when the electrical current through the device is 3 to 5 times the rated current. The type B curve RCBOs are designed for standard circuit protection, typically protection of generators, persons and very long cables.

Type C: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 5 to 10 times the rated current. Type C curve residential and domestic RCBOs are used for higher inrush currents such as in machines and lighting, providing overload protection of circuits and other consumer units.

Type AC: A combination of both A and C types, type AC RCBOs are suited to both domestic appliances and devices sensitive to short circuit.

Eaton RCD/MCB Combination Switch, 1+N Poles, Type A and Type C Trip - PXK Series - PXK-C32/1N/003-A

Use this reliable electrical combination switch from Eaton to protect operators and equipment against two types of faults. Its RCD (residual current device) functionality safeguards against earth leakages and electrical shocks, and it provides standard MCB (miniature circuit breaker) overcurrent protection against electrical overloads and short circuits. You can use this device on consumer units and mission-critical circuits to establish a safer environment and prevent nuisance trips.

• Combined type-A and type-C tripping characteristics ensure power supply disconnection when electrical current is two to three times the rated amount and when flow-through current is between five to 10 times the rated current
• DIN rail mounting capability to save space and offer easy installation in standard setups

Are all combination switches and RCBOs (residual current circuit breakers with overcurrent protection) double poled?

Most RCBOs are single-pole, meaning they have one pole and a neutral, which is usually indicated as 1P+N. Some models claim to be double-poled based on this parameter but are in fact single pole. If you want a double-pole RCBO, opt for a 2-module width.
