IMI Norgren Reed Pneumatic Sensor, 10 to 170V DC, 10 to 240AC - M/40 Series - M/40

This reed pneumatic sensor from IMI Norgren is crucial for industrial processes like the clamping and positioning of workpieces. It's an electromagnetic switch that helps detect the linear position of a piston to switch cylinders on or off and start or stop actuation. The component consists of ferrous reeds encased in a tube and becomes magnetised to close a circuit and let electricity flow. A cable length of 2 metres allows you to install the sensor over distances without moving equipment.

Features & Benefits

• LED (light-emitting diode) indicator shows whether the switch is on or off
• IP66 (ingress protection) rating assures you the component is completely shielded against corrosives like dust and protected from water jets from all directions
• Simple and reliable switching ensures rapid response times
• Broad operating temperatures between -20°C and +80°C for use in harsh conditions

Applications

• Door and window sensors
• Cylinders controlling industrial assembly and production lines

Is this pneumatic reed sensor NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed)?

The contacts in this pneumatic reed sensor are normally open. When the magnetic field of the cylinder rod magnetises them, they close to conduct electricity and turn the cylinder on.
