Honeywell GLC Series Limit Switch, IP66, 6A Switching Current - GLCB07A1B

This limit switch provides positional detection and circuit control for industrial automation and machine safety tasks. Fitted with a roller lever actuator and a snap-action contact mechanism, it is engineered for repeated actuation in demanding electrical and mechanical systems. Its sealed enclosure and conduit entry enable use in harsher environments while maintaining clear switching behaviour for control circuits.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap-action contacts for consistent fast switching performance
• 1NC and 1NO contacts to support versatile control logic
• Rated for 6A current at 240V AC for mains switching tasks
• Operating range from −40°C to 85°C for extreme-temperature applications
• Mechanical endurance up to 10,000,000 cycles for long service intervals
• IP66 enclosure for protection against dust and powerful water jets

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in factories
• Ideal for limit sensing on packaging and assembly machinery
• Used with motor starters for safety interlock functions
• Can be used for position feedback in automated Gates and doors
• Used for actuator end-stop detection in material handling systems

What conduit connection is provided for cable entry?

The unit accepts a PG13.5 conduit fitting to secure incoming cables and glands for sealed wiring.

How is the enclosure constructed to withstand industrial use?

The housing is formed from zinc with an electrostatic epoxy coating to resist corrosion and surface wear.

How should the switch be mounted for correct operation?

It is designed for vertical mounting to ensure proper actuation geometry with the roller lever.

What switching voltages can the contacts handle?

The contacts are suitable for switching up to 240V AC and up to 250V DC within the rated current.

Warning

GLC and GLD limit switches are not safety devices. They should be not used as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
