Honeywell GLC Series Limit Switch, 6A Switching Current, IP66 - GLCB01C

This limit switch provides a Compact mechanical Interface for position detection and circuit control in industrial systems. It uses a roller plunger actuator to register motion and change contact state, designed for environments where robust switching and environmental protection are required. The device is suited to control and safety tasks within automation, electrical and mechanical assemblies.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap‑action contacts deliver quick state transition and precise signalling
• 1NC/1NO contact arrangement supports dual control circuits
• Rated for 240V AC switching at 6 A enabling mains‑level loads
• Operating force of 16 N gives consistent actuation response
• IP66 enclosure prevents dust ingress and powerful water jets
• Mechanical endurance of 10,000,000 cycles ensures prolonged operational life

Applications

• Suitable for limit detection on conveyor end stops and Gates
• Ideal for actuator position sensing in industrial valves
• Used with motor starters for overtravel protection routines
• Can be used for safety interlocks on access panels
• Used for position feedback in material‑handling equipment

What conduit entry is provided for wiring connections?

A PG13.5 conduit entry is supplied to accept compatible threaded conduit fittings and cable glands.

Which ambient temperatures can it withstand during operation?

It operates reliably between −40 °C and 85 °C, accommodating cold storage to warm machine‑room conditions.

What is the enclosure material and its protective treatment?

The body is metal with an electrostatic epoxy coating applied to provide corrosion resistance and a Durable finish.

Which certification marks indicate recognised approvals?

The unit carries UL, CCC, CE and CSA approvals indicating multiple international safety assessments.

Warning

GLC and GLD limit switches are not safety devices. They should be not used as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
