Honeywell GLA Series Limit Switch, 20mm Conduit Entry, DPDT Contact Configuration - GLAC20B

This limit switch is a mechanically operated device designed to detect position changes and provide control signals in industrial systems. It uses a plunger actuator to convert physical movement into electrical switching, and is built with a die-cast zinc enclosure and sealed construction for demanding environments. The unit offers double-pole double-throw switching and is suited to applications where snap-action contact behaviour and robustness are required.

Features and Benefits:

• DPDT contact arrangement enables flexible circuit control
• Snap-action contacts deliver Rapid switching response
• Rated for 6A at 600V AC for common industrial loads
• Die-cast zinc housing affords rugged environmental protection
• IP67 sealing permits use in wet and dusty conditions
• Mechanical endurance of 15 million cycles supports long service life

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in factories
• Ideal for limit sensing on industrial presses and actuators
• Used for position feedback in automated assembly lines
• Can be used for safety interlocks on machine guards
• Suitable for control panels requiring M20 conduit entry

What electrical voltages can it switch for DC circuits?

It can switch DC voltages up to 250V in appropriate circuit configurations.

How does the actuator operate under high-temperature conditions?

The plunger actuator functions across an ambient range from -25°C up to 85°C without compromising switching action.

What conduit connection is provided for wiring?

The unit accepts an M20 conduit entry for standard industrial cable glands and conduit fittings.

Are there recognised approvals for industrial deployment?

It carries CE, CSA, UL and CCC approvals indicating conformity with multiple regional standards.

What type of Terminal Interface does it use?

Termination is provided via an M20-style Terminal arrangement suitable for secure electrical connections.

UL/ UL listed for Canada

Warning

GLA limit switches have not been designed as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of the products failing.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
