Honeywell GLA Series Limit Switch, IP67, 6A Switching Current - GLAB20D

This limit switch is a Compact actuator device designed to detect and respond to mechanical movement in industrial control systems. It employs a plunger-style actuator with a snap-action contact mechanism to deliver decisive electrical switching for automation, providing a robust enclosure for protection and compatibility with threaded conduit connections for straightforward installation in harsh environments.

Features and Benefits:

• DPDT contact arrangement enables versatile circuit control for safety
• Snap-action switching supports up to 600V AC and 6 A for high-voltage tasks
• Die-cast zinc housing with IP67 rating resists dust and immersion
• Mechanical endurance rated at 15,000,000 operations for long service life
• Operating torque of 0.33 N·m ensures predictable actuation force

Applications

• Suitable for position sensing on conveyor end-stops in factories
• Ideal for limit detection on press and stamping machines
• Used with motor starters for travel-limited control in plant equipment
• Can be used for safety interlocks on access panels and guards

What temperature range can it operate within?

It functions across an ambient span from −25 °C to 85 °C, allowing use in both cold stores and warm process areas.

How is the switch mounted and wired on site?

It is designed for side mounting and accepts threaded conduit entries for standard electrical routing and secure cable fixation.

Which materials and approvals underpin its suitability for industrial use?

The enclosure is die-cast zinc and the unit carries CE, UL, CSA and CCC approvals supporting international deployment.

What is the expected switching behaviour under repeated use?

The snap-action contact provides Rapid transfer with minimal contact bounce, contributing to consistent switching performance over its rated mechanical life.

Warning

GLA limit switches have not been designed as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of the products failing.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
