What does a limit switch do?
A limit switch is made up of an actuator mechanically linked to an electrical switch. When an object touches the actuator, a circuit is either opened or closed, depending on the purpose of the switch, which causes power either to flow or stop flowing. Limit switches are a common safety feature on industrial machinery.
