Category 6 or Cat6 cable for short is the 6th generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling that is widely used in both business and home network installations. It is commonly known as a network cable, LAN or Ethernet cable. It consists of 4 twisted pairs of sheathed copper wire cable, able to support a high data transfer.

These RS PRO Cat 6 are unshielded twisted pairs (UTP), a popular type of cable consisting of two unshielded wires twisted around each other. Due to the cables being twisted together both cross-talk and system noise levels are reduced.

This RS PRO Cat 6 cable is Low Smoke Zero Halogen, commonly termed as LSZH or LSOH cables are used where smoke emission and toxic fumes could cause harm to human health, as well as to essential equipment in the event of a fire. LSZH cables have an outer sheath material which produce lower levels of smoke and toxic fumes, and no acid gases. These are particularly beneficial to personnel exiting safely during a fire, as well as increasing the safety of the firefighting operation.
