RS PRO Right-Angled Cable Mount SMA Connector

RS PRO has increased its range of coaxial connectors, here we are proud to introduce a new addition to the series of SMA connectors. This male SMA connector is a sub-miniature radio frequency (RF) connector designed to interface with RG174 cables and pair with female SMA.

Where would you find them?

An SMA cable mount connector is one of many RF connector types used in conjunction with coaxial cable to carry high-frequency electrical signals with low losses. Common applications include telephone systems, microwave systems, and Wi-Fi systems.

Features and Benefits

• Right-Angled body male SMA coaxial connector
• Fitted with gold-plated brass body and centre contact
• Sub-miniature size
• Cable mounting
• Characteristic impedance of 50 Ω
• Hexagonal shape for easy tightening and loosening
• Normal polarity
• Operating frequency up to 6 GHz
• Voltage rating of 500 V
• Operating temperature range of -45°C to +165°C
• Termination: Pressure welding

Installation

1. Ensure you have the correct impedance-rated cable to match the SMA connector, in this case, 50 Ω.
2. Slide the tubular body from the connector over the cable
3. Measure 14 mm from the tip of the cable, strip, and remove the outer jacket.
4. Fold the braided mesh layer back over the outer jacket
5. Measure 5 mm from the tip of the inner jacket, strip to reveal the central conductor
6. Slide the crimp ferrule over the conductor wires until it meets the hole pin visible inside the connector.
7. Solder for a few seconds (do not over heat)
8. Insert the cap
9. Fold the braided mesh forward, slide the tubular body forward with a firm push. Remove access braid.
10. Crimp together via tubular body with a crimp tool.
