A digital hygrometer is an instrument capable of measuring the moisture in the air by calculating of both air pressure and temperature changes, this then results in the moistures percentage in the air. Application to use a digital hygrometer would be the need to monitor the humidity, such as a food processing plant where its important to ensure the humidity stays at a consistent as it could affect production.
