    PAT Testers

PAT testers, or portable appliance testers, are essential to check electrical devices for faults in a wide range of working environments. PAT testing equipment will provide a pass or fail for the appliance you are testing immediately, significantly reducing the risk of potential safety problems such as shock and appliance failure.

Portable appliance testing equipment can also be calibrated to ensure it does not deviate from the manufacturer's settings and become inaccurate. RS offer a UKAS calibration service as well as our very own calibrated approval (RSCAL).

By purchasing a reliable PAT tester, you can protect both employees and your business, mitigate hazards and meet regulatory requirements.

How often do portable electrical appliances need to be tested?

PAT testing is a key component of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, which requires employers or the self-employed to do anything that is 'reasonably practical' to protect people from harm. The regulation does not specify the frequency of the testing. In general, the frequency of PAT testing depends on factors including they type of appliance, the environment it is used in, and the level of risk associated with its usage.

    Types of PAT Tester

We have a range of PAT testers for use with Class I and Class II appliances, power leads, extension leads and RCDs. Many models include easy to operate one-touch testing, which returns a pass or fail result based on pre-set values.
