RS PRO 3 Phase 1.628 kVA Variac, 3 Outputs, 415 V, 2 A


Variable transformers or variacs, such as this three output model from RS PRO, are used to adjust the AC (alternating current) voltage for electronic devices and lamps. They can be used in a range of applications including power conversions and audio systems.

A silver-plated commutator provides the transformer with a smooth linear output free from waveform distortion. A commutator periodically reverses the current direction between the rotor and the external circuit. Overload protection is built into the device, and it has a low operating torque and low magnetising current for efficient operation.

This variable transformer is designed for either surface, floor or wall mounting. This is easy using the screw terminals provided. It's part of RS PRO's professional range of Varivolt transformers, which come in a variety of current settings and phase models. All of the transformers require earthing using the earth studs provided.
