Schmersal Solenoid Interlock Switch with Power to Lock Function, 24V AC/DC - AZM 161 Series - AZM 161SK-12/12RKA-024

This solenoid interlock switch from Schmersal has been designed to prevent movable safety guards from being opened until hazardous conditions have been eliminated. It has four normally open safety contacts and two normally closed auxiliary contacts. When the guard is opened, the normally-closed contacts are forced open by the actuating key. This makes sure the circuit is interrupted or isolated and the machine stops promptly.

Features and Benefits

• Double-insulated thermoplastic enclosure with screw terminals for a longer life

• IP (ingress protection) rating of 67 means it's dust-tight and water-resistant

• Meets IEC/EN60947-5-1 (International Electrotechnical Commission / European Norm) safety standards for switchgear and control gear devices

Application Information

• Automotive manufacture

• Robotics

• Rail and transport industries

How do solenoid interlock switches work?

Solenoid interlock switches are operated by magnetic force and respond when a guard opens or closes. A machine can't start until the switch's guard is closed and locked, and it will hold the guard closed until dangerous processes are complete. Interlock switches use positive opening safety contacts for high reliability and can only be operated with one of the keys provided.
