The Okdo TelePort infrared obstacle avoidance sensor. It has a transmitting and receiving tube. When the obstacle is detected, the infrared rays will be reflected to the receiving tube and signal end will output low levels(0)

if no obstacle is detected, the transmitted infrared rays will disappear gradually as the distance increases. The receiving tube will output a highlevel(1)whennot receiving infrared rays. Then you can determine if there is an obstacle. You can adjust the detection distance by rotating the potentiometer knob, the effective distance range of 2∼40 cm.
