Siemens 5SV1316 Series Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overload Protection, 13A Current, 30mA Trip Sensitivity - 5SV1316-7KK13

This residual current circuit-breaker with overload protection provides combined earth-fault detection and overcurrent interruption for single-phase installations. Designed for DIN-rail fitting in distribution boards, it protects circuits by disconnecting on residual currents and instantaneous overloads while supporting AC supply systems at 230V and 50 Hz.

Features & Benefits

• Type A detection with 30 mA sensitivity for AC and pulsating faults
• 6 kA breaking capacity to limit fault energy and damage
• Type C instantaneous tripping for moderate inrush current tolerance
• Two-pole design enabling simultaneous live and NEUTRAL switching
• Screw terminals accepting up to 16mm² for robust conductor connections
• Compact width of 18mm conserving panel space

Applications

• Suitable for residential distribution boards requiring earth-leakage protection
• Ideal for small commercial installations with single-phase circuits
• Used for protecting lighting and socket circuits with moderate inrush currents
• Can be used for retrofit projects where DIN-rail mounting is required

What is the expected mechanical service life under normal switching?

The device is rated for approximately 10,000 switching cycles in typical mechanical operation.

How does ambient temperature affect rated current-carrying capability?

The rated 13A current is derated progressively with temperature, for example to about 12.35A at 40 °C and to about 10.01A at 70 °C.

What installation orientations and clearances are supported?

It may be mounted in any position on a standard DIN rail and offers IP20 protection when installed with conductors connected inside a distribution enclosure.

Which surge and switching performance figures are relevant for coordination?

Surge resistance is about 1 kA for an 8/20 μs waveform and switching capacities include 6 kA per EN 60898 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2.

What conductor preparations and tightening parameters are required?

Stranded conductors up to 16mm² and finely stranded with ferrules up to 10mm² are acceptable and Terminal screws should be tightened to between 1.2 and 2 N·m.
