Electronic enclosures are available in a range of materials, however they are commonly made with a combination of metal and plastic. Many heat sink enclosures can be rack mounted and customised to include a wide range of accessories including panels, mounting bars and handles, making them highly versatile.

The IP rating refers to the level of protection that is provided, with lower numbers offering minimal protection and higher numbers offering maximum protection. The first digit refers to the level of protection from solids such as dust and debris, whereas the second digit refers to liquid.
