Eaton Rear of Panel Mounted Switch Disconnectors

The P and T range of non-fused switch disconnectors from Eaton provides safe switching, isolating and control. Robust and reliable, these high-performance devices are used primarily in industrial and engineering applications. With the added IP65 ingress protection rating they are ideal for use in harsh environments or applications that require extra protection.
Switch disconnectors are used to isolate electrical equipment before any essential maintenance or repair work can be completed. Switch disconnectors ensure electrical circuits are de-energized safely in accordance with the electricity at work regulations. Engineers and electricians are then able to carry out the necessary works without any electrical risks.

Features and Benefits

• Compact and durable
• Clear position indication
• Padlockable in the OFF position with up to 3 x 8 mm padlocks
• Rear mounting, easily and quickly fitted on to DIN rail or a base plate
• P series switches can be mounted in electrical cabinets or enclosures up to 400mm deep with an additional extension shaft

Applications

The Eaton P and T series of manually operated switch disconnectors are used in a wide range of industrial applications and installations. Some of the most common are

• Machine control panels
• Isolation of circuit breakers
• Transformers and transmission lines
• Switchgear panels
• Distribution panels
• Consumer units

Suitable Accessories include:
Extended shaft kits
• Part number 323-173 is an extended shaft kit for 20, 25 and 32A disconnect switches. They are 25mm long and up to 4 can be connected if required.
• Part number 323-189 is an extended shaft kit for 63,85 and 100A disconnect switches. They are 25mm long and up to 4 can be connected if required.
Neutral blocks
• Part number 333-495 for a 3 pole 25A add-on neutral block
• Part number 333-502 for a 3 pole 32A add-on neutral block
• Part number 333-518 for a 3 pole 63A add-on neutral block
Contact Blocks
• Part number 333-546 for a NO/NC 10A auxiliary contact block for the rear of the panel switch disconnectors. Maximum 2 blocks per switch

What is the difference between a fused switch disconnector and a non-fused switch disconnector?

Unlike fused switch disconnectors, a non-fuse isolator switch does not use a fuse to break or put a circuit into isolation, they instead use a rotary switch or knife-blade disconnect to isolate and de-energise a circuit. Commonly used in industrial automation and control settings.

Eaton Non-Fused Isolator Switch, Rear Panel Mounting, 37 kW - P3-63 Series - P3-63/V/SVB

This non-fused isolator switch from Eaton is a high-performance choice to provide safety for industrial equipment and machinery. It cuts off the power supply to the equipment during maintenance and can be secured in the OFF position with a padlock. This switch has excellent impact resistance and its compact design, with a width of 48 mm, makes it suitable for use in tight spaces. Because of its high power rating, its ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications such as power transformer lines, electrical substations and switchgear circuits.

• Screw-in termination type for easy installation
• Wide temperature range of -25°C to +50°C for use in harsh environments
• IP65 (ingress protection) rating indicates that it's dust-proof and resistant to low-pressure water jets
• Rotary handle with two positions for easy operation

What's the difference between an isolator switch and a circuit breaker?

Even though they have similar functions, the major difference between an isolator switch and a circuit breaker is the condition in which they work. A circuit breaker cuts off power to a system under the on-load condition, while an isolator switch interrupts power flow in the off-load state.
