3M ST, SC and LC Hot Melt Fibre Optic Connectors

Hot Melt ST, SC and LC fibre optic connectors have pre-loaded adhesive within pre-radiused PC zirconia ceramic ferrules, allowing faster installation than standard connectors that need adhesive preparation and injection. The adhesive of these Hot Melt ST and SC fibre optic connectors is resettable, allowing greater scope for adjustments during assembly.

Hot Melt ST and SC fibre optic connectors only require one stage of polishing using a polishing puck for both connector types (stock number 267-8122) and one grade of polishing film (stock number 267-8144). A polishing pad is also available (see stock number 267-8138) and a SC Hot Melt connector cooling stand (stock number 267-8087) for retaining assembled SC Hot Melt connectors immediately after curing. These Hot Melt fibre optic connectors accept multi-mode 125 micron fibre cables with sheath diameters to 3mm and, once installed, provide a low loss, mechanically stable assembly.

The SC Hot Melt connector requires a crimp tool stock no. 267-8100 to terminate the body via a crimp ring to cable.

Note

Hot Melt ST Connectors have a loss repeatability of 0.2dB, 1000 matings,>while Hot Melt SC Connectors have >0.2dB, 200 matings.

3M Polishing Film, Disc Type, Aluminium Oxide Abrasive Material - 254X Series - 254X ILF AO 2MIL TR3

When you can't afford for your communication signals to get lost in transmission, use this polishing film from 3M. Thanks to its precisely graded aluminium oxide particle coating, this product takes the hard grind out of finishing and flat-lapping processes on your fibre optic connectors, media heads and hard disk drives. The fine micron grade of 2μm helps you achieve a consistent finish, resulting in high yields and non-slurry processing.

• 2mil polyester film backing for strength and flexibility
• Tightly packed particles give a consistent cut rate
• Shaped as a disc to fit on lap plates

Applications
