When compressed air enters its barrel through the cap-end port, the 160mm-wide piston travels to the other end. This causes the tie rod to extend by up to 250mm, before airflow into the rod-end port makes it retract again. The piston's seals are made from nitrile rubber for resistance to abrasion and to prevent leakage.
