The B&R Industrial Automation GmbH I/O module supports 2 SSI absolute encoders 5 V or 2 ABR incremental encoders 5 V, 4 AB counters or 4 up/down counters 24 V, and 2 pulse width modulation time measurement or relative timestamp functions. Connectors 1 and 3 are 12-pin M12 connectors each capable of connecting 1 incremental encoder or SSI encoder with 5 V differential signals. Additionally, 2 digital channels on the same output can be configured as inputs to work with incremental encoders with status outputs such as alarms or as outputs for preset and count direction switching functions when used with SSI encoders. Female connectors 2 and 4 provide 2 more sockets and 2 configurable digital channels. The inputs on these connectors can be used as latch gate or home enable switches while the outputs can serve as comparator outputs.
