Strain Relief Clips (Class II)

3M Class II Strain Relief Clip For Use With 3000 Series Sockets, Grey, 0.100 (L) x 0.100" (W) - 3448-3040
This Class II strain relief clip from 3M is a simple way to extend the life of your 3000 series cable assembly. It snaps easily into place to take the strain off the ribbon cable, meaning the IDC (insulation-displacement contact) connection isn't subjected to damaging mechanical stress. 3M's 3000 series IDC connectors use a blade to pierce the cables' insulators and make an electrical contact via cold welding, meaning there's no need to strip wires as with traditional crimping.
• Prolongs the service life of cable assemblies
• Safe for demanding industrial environments, thanks to an operating temperature range of -55°C to +105°C
• For use with Class II sockets 121-0810 and 120-6798

Where would I use strain relief?
You'll find strain relief in many cable assemblies where the cable meets the connector. Its purpose is to protect the electrical connections and extend the life of the assembly. The ridged part at the base of the moulded plugs on many household appliances is a common example. Strain relief for IDC connectors can come as a separate part to be clipped on after the wires have been connected.
