SICK MPS Series Position Sensor, IP67, 30V Maximum Supply Voltage - MPS-160TSTP0 / 1050685

This position sensor provides continuous linear position measurement for pneumatic and profile cylinders in automation environments. It delivers an analogue output for integration with control systems and is designed for use where a sealed enclosure and straightforward electrical connection are required.

Features & Benefits

• Analogue voltage or current outputs enable direct PLC interfacing
• Operating supply range up to 30V supports industrial installations
• IP67-rated enclosure allows use in washdown or dusty environments
• Built-in teach-in simplifies on-site calibration and setup
• Typical resolution 0.03% FSR yields fine position discrimination
• Repeat accuracy 0.06% FSR ensures consistent measurement over cycles

**Applications**

• Suitable for piston position feedback on T-slot cylinders
• Ideal for integrating with SMC rail-guided actuators
• Used with dovetail groove cylinders for position monitoring
• Can be used for stroke measurement in profile and tie-rod cylinders
• Suitable for machine control requiring analogue displacement signals

What indicator informs about device status during operation?

A front-mounted LED provides immediate operational status and fault indication.

How is the sensor connected electrically in installations?

It uses a four-wire DC connection via an axial cable outlet with an M8 4-pin connector.

What environmental stresses can it withstand mechanically?

The unit tolerates shock up to 30g for 11ms and vibration from 10–55 Hz at 1mm amplitude.

How quickly does the output respond to position changes?

The sensor samples at approximately 1ms intervals, enabling Rapid feedback.

Are there limitations on cable handling in low temperatures?

The attached PUR cable must not be bent below 0°C to avoid damage.
