Honeywell GLD Series Limit Switch, 10A Switching Current, IP66 - GLDA01A4J

This limit switch provides a Compact electromechanical sensing solution for industrial control and automation. It detects mechanical position changes via a rod actuator and delivers discrete switching outputs for control systems in manufacturing, assembly and safety interlock contexts. The enclosure offers protection against dust and water ingress for use in demanding environments.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap action contact for Rapid reliable state changes
• 1NC and 1NO contact arrangement for flexible control logic
• Rated switching 240V AC and 250V DC for mixed-voltage systems
• Operating force 0.12N enabling sensitive actuation response
• Mechanical endurance 10000000 cycles for extended duty cycles
• IP66 ingress protection for washdown and dusty locations

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in production lines
• Ideal for machine guard interlocks in assembly stations
• Used with actuated valves to confirm open/closed positions
• Can be used for limit sensing on automated handling equipment
• Used for positional feedback in robotics and pick-and-place units

What materials resist corrosive and humid conditions?

The housing is MADE from fibreglass-reinforced thermoplastic which provides chemical resistance and dimensional stability in moist atmospheres.

What operating temperatures can it withstand during continuous use?

It is rated to function between -40°C and 85°C, supporting both cold-store and moderately high-temperature plant environments.

How is the switch routed for wiring and conduit entry?

Conduit entry accepts 0.5 to 1/4 NPT fittings to accommodate standard industrial cable glands and conduit sizes.

What approvals support installation in regulated electrical systems?

The unit holds CSA, CCC, UL and CE approvals, aligning with common international safety standards.

How Compact is the switch for tight installations?

The actuator-equipped body measures 68.5mm in length and 30.5mm in width, suitable for constrained mounting spaces.

Warning

GLC and GLD limit switches are not safety devices. They should be not used as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
