Honeywell Amplified Airflow Sensor, Dry Gas Media, 0 to 5slm - AWM5000 Series - AWM5101VN

Use this amplified airflow sensor from Honeywell to measure the amount of air or gas passing through a system. This component features a venturi design that gauges pressure at two different points, resulting in reliable airflow measurement. A microbridge chip ensures there's less chance of clogging in the device. This sensor has a male cylindrical NPT (National Pipe Thread) connection for easy and secure fitting to common pipes, making it versatile and simple to install. The outer package is made of hard-wearing plastic that's capable of withstanding pressures of up to 50psi without compromising performance.

Features & Benefits

• Active laser trimming for sensor-to-sensor interchangeability

• Operating temperature range for 0°C to +50°C for good thermal stability

• Amplified signal conditioning for improved performance and reliability

Applications

• Gas chromatography

• Electronic fuel injection systems

• Medical respirators and ventilators

• Leak testing

How does this sensor detect airflow?

This device has a microbridge sensor that consists of a heater resistor placed between two temperature-detecting resistors. When airflow moves past the in-built microbridge chip, it transfers heat from the heater resistor to the temperature-sensing resistors, cooling one and heating the other. This process causes a change in resistance that corresponds to the mass airflow.

High Flow Mass Airflow/Amplified

AWM5000 series microbridge mass airflow sensors feature a venturi type flow housing. They measure flow as high as 20 SLPM while inducing a maximum pressure drop of 2.25N H2O. The microbridge chip is in direct contact with the flow stream, greatly reducing error possibilities due to orifice or bypass channel clogging.

Features and Benefits

• Linear voltage output;• Venturi design;• Remote mounting capability;• Active laser trimming improves interchangeability;• Separate gas calibration types:;– Ar (argon);– N2 (nitrogen) or;– CO2 (carbon dioxide)

Product Application Information

The rugged plastic package has been designed to withstand common mode pressures up to 50 psi. The small sensing element allows 100 Gs of shock without compromising performance. The included AMP compatible connector provides reliable connection in demanding applications.
