34972A Data Acquisition System Switch Unit

Brought to you by Keysight, The 34972A DAQ switch unit combines simplicity of user interface with low per-channel cost, modular flexibility and impressive measurement performance. Its versatility includes use as a data-logger, data acquisition front-end and switch system. It measures and converts temperature with thermocouples, RTDs & thermistors, dc & ac voltage, 2-wire & 4-wire resistance, frequency & period and dc & ac current. Each channel is independently configurable. Built-in signal conditioning means users can measure 11 different functions without the added cost or hassle of external signal conditioning accessories. With an emphasis on flexibility, the 34972A DAQ also allows the user to specify measurement functions by individual channel and take advantage of user-definable software units, Mx + B scaling and alarm limits. All models are highly reliable and excellent quality.

What are the differences to the 34970A?

The 34972A shares the features of the 34970A ( 686-2107 ) and additionally features a built-in USB memory port so that a USB flash drive can be used to upload BenchLink Data Logger configurations into the 34972A and collect data without being connected to a PC. Data can be logged directly to the USB flash drive, extending the instrument's memory, or be copied from internal memory for transfer to a computer in another location.

What is data acquisition?

Data acquisition is an activity which samples signals, measuring physical conditions. With this unit, the results are then converted into digital values. Data is then logged on a USB or another type of storage device for the comparison of results. To explain it in its simplest terms, measuring the temperature of the concrete outside during summer with a simple device, would be classed as data acquisition.
