ABB AF50 Series Contactor, 100A Operational Current, 22kW Power Rating - 1SBL357001R6900

This contactor is a three-pole switching device designed to control 3-phase motors and general power circuits up to 690 V. It accepts a wide control-voltage window on AC 50/60 Hz or DC supplies, allowing the same unit to be used across varying supply conditions and in installations subject to voltage dips or brief interruptions.

Features & Benefits

• 100A rated current delivers high-load switching capacity
• 22 kW AC-3 power rating supports medium-power motors
• 48 to 130V control range permits wide Coil supply compatibility
• 3NO main contact arrangement enables straightforward motor starters
• Screw terminals allow secure connections for conductors
• Can tolerate short control-voltage interruptions, improving uptime

Applications

• Suitable for switching 3-phase motor starters in industrial panels
• Ideal for bypass and capacitor switching in power circuits
• Used for lighting and DC power circuit control in traction systems
• Can be used for retrofit replacement of like-for-like contactors

What ambient temperatures can it operate within when fitted with an overload relay?

When mounted close to a thermal overload relay it is specified for operation between -25 °C and +55 °C.

What insulation and impulse withstand levels does it meet for industrial environments?

It is rated for 1000V insulation (per IEC/EN) with an 8 kV impulse withstand voltage.

How does the Coil consumption affect control wiring design?

Holding consumption is low at 2.8 V·A while pull-in requirement is 210 V·A at maximum rated control voltage, which should be considered when sising control transformers and protection.

What mechanical and electrical switching duties are supported?

Electrical switching frequency allows up to 300 cycles/hour for AC-1 and AC-3 duties with a mechanical switching endurance of 300 cycles/hour.
