Plastic pipe cement is a solvent cement typically used to join PVC and ABS pipes together to create a solid seal. The solvent cement is non-drip and provides an airtight seal by chemically bonding pipes, plastic tubing and plastic pipe fittings together. This type of cement is ideal in any applications that require a tight and secure waterproof seal such as plumbing and pipework.
A special cleaning solvent is also recommended for cleaning solvent jointed plastics like PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS. The cleaning fluid can be used for preparation of the joint surface and for cleaning cement residue from brushes
How does solvent cement work?
Similar to glue and other adhesives, you can use this thixotropic chemical bonding to secure your PVS and ABS pipes together by applying the required amount to each end.
Plastic pipe cement features and benefits:
- Solvent creates a strong chemical bond
- Does not drip
- Operating temperatures down to -5 degrees
- Fire protection available
- Resistant to almost all fluids
- Gap filling solvent
Where might I use one?
Plastic pipe cement can be used to connect pipes such as PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS.
