    Laser Measures

Laser measures are a highly efficient way of measuring distances on all terrains. By using a laser to target and record a point of reference, the device then calculates and displays the distance to that point with a high degree of accuracy. Offering a measurement solution that is far faster and easier than a conventional tape measure, laser measures are highly versatile devices that have proven beneficial to many industries.

At RS, our range of laser distance measure products features precision models from leading brands, such as Bosch, DeWALT, Leica, Fluke and RS PRO, with imperial and metric measurement capacities available.

    How do laser measures work?

Laser distance meters send a laser to a particular point and then, using the time taken for this light beam to return to the device, calculates the distance to a high degree of accuracy. The laser pointer is visible to the human eye and therefore allows the user to easily pinpoint the desired area of measurement, ensuring the measurement is as precise as possible.

What are the advantages of laser measures?

There are many advantages to using laser measurers over traditional tape measures and other measuring devices. These include:

    • Unlike traditional tape measures, laser measures can be used one-handed and do not require anyone to assist with longer measurements. They can also be used in low light, especially when they feature backlit LCD or digital displays.
    • Laser measurement devices can typically record several points of references without having to move, allowing you to calculate relative distances between two points.
    • Typically, these devices are pocket-sized with easily read display screens making them easy to use, store and transport, and can even be tripod-mounted for accurate measurements over very long distances.

The only real disadvantage is that they require a battery charge or power source to operate and may be more susceptible to harsh environments than manual measurement tapes. However, environmentally-resistant and water-resistant laser measures are available.

    Laser Measure Applications

Laser measures are commonly used across many industries, but they are most commonly found in construction and realtor-related work, such as surveyors, builders, construction workers and tradesmen, such as plumbers, carpenters and electricians.

Wherever precision measurements are required, a digital laser measure can save you time and prevent mistakes.
