Microchip Technology LDO Regulator

The Microchip Technology MIC2920A series bulletproof LDO regulator is a new age device with a low dropout voltage and quiescent current. The quiescent current increases slightly in dropout, prolonging battery life. It includes protection against reversed battery, folds back current limiting, and automotive load dump protection.

Features and Benefits

• Current and thermal limiting
• Error flag warns of output dropout
• Extremely tight load and line regulation
• High output voltage accuracy
• Input withstands 20V reverse battery and 60V positive transients
• Logic controlled electronic shutdown
• Maximum output current is 400mA
• Output programmable from 1.24V to 26V
• Output voltage is 3.3V
• Pin count is 3
• Very low temperature coefficient

Applications

• Automotive electronics
• Bar code scanners
• Battery powered equipment
• Cellular telephones
• High efficiency linear power supplies
• Laptop, notebook, and palmtop computers
• PCMCIA VCC and VPP regulation/switching
• SMPS post regulators
• Voltage reference
• High-efficiency linear power supplies
