FAQs

What is Thunderbolt technology?

Thunderbolt technology is a hardware designed by Intel that provides much improved data transferring experience and combines PCI Express and video DisplayPort into two serial signals.
The first generation of Thunderbolt offers 10Gbps bi-directional transfer speeds and video bandwidth on a single cable connection whilst also delivering power. Thunderbolt technology allows for daisy-chaining up to six devices and compatible with existing DisplayPort devices. Since the first generation there have been Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3 technologies developed, the first and second generation utilise the same connection type as Mini-DisplayPort whereas the third generation (Thunderbolt 3) uses USB-C Connector type.
