What is a USB Mini-USB Connector?

A Mini USB connector is much smaller than a USB Type A and B (about two thirds the width of an A style connector). The Mini B plug connector is compatible with both the USB Type 2.0 Mini B and AB receptacle.

How does a USB Cable Work?

A USB cable allows digital data to be transferred from a peripheral device to a host PC. The cable consists of four wires that are used separately for transferring power and data. The Mini USB plug is inserted into the receptacle in your mobile device and the Type A plug is inserted into the female USB port on the host device. Once connected the data or power is transferred automatically via the USB cable without the need for any additional interfaces or software. This is referred to as Plug and Play.
