Phoenix Contact SFP TRAB EMC Filters

The Phoenix Contact SFP-TRAB series of EMC Filters have a combined protective circuit for absorbing transient surge voltages and high frequency interference voltages. This highly reliable series also features thermal monitoring of the protective circuit and disconnection status signal.

Phoenix Contact Surge Protector, 10kA Surge Current, 230V AC Nominal Voltage - SFP 1-20/230AC - 2859987

Protect your equipment against sudden voltage spikes with this surge protector from Phoenix Contact. By blocking surge voltages up to 1kV and surge currents up to 10kA, the protector safeguards your hardware against power supply issues and lightning strikes.
For enhanced reliability, the device features an interference suppression filter that minimises disruption from EMI (electromagnetic interference). It emits a signal when it trips to alert you to potential hazards, making troubleshooting simple. The protector is designed for DIN rail mounting for ease of installation. It has a broad operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, making it suited to use in demanding environments.

• Meets EN 61643-11/A11 standards for reliable and effective protection against current surges
• Meets IEC 60664-1 standards for insulation coordination in low-voltage systems
• Accommodates conductors ranging in size from 28 to 16AWG for versatility
• IP20 (ingress protection) rating for protection against objects larger than 12mm in size
• Compact dimensions of 93 (height) x 112 (width) x 79mm (depth) to save space on the DIN rail

Surge Protection Devices, SPDs (DIN-rail)

Voltage surges, often referred to as spikes or transients are typically caused by switching of fluorescent lights, fuses blowing or nearby lightning activity. The worst voltage spikes are usually caused by lightning strikes and can reach up to 6000V, with current surges of over 3000A. The maximum size of the let-through voltage and current inrush depends on the location within the building's wiring system. BS7671: 2011 Amendment 1 Sections 443 and 534 cover risk assessment and provides guidance on protection of electronic equipment for installation engineers to follow. The fullest information on lightning and surge protection comes from the BSEN 62305 series of standards.
