Eaton MTL Ultra Slim Two Loop Surge Protector - SLP Series

The SLP series of surge protector units from Eaton MTL Crouse-Hinds has an ultra-slim design for protecting electrical equipment against surges on control loop cabling. The SLP surge protection devices use a hybrid protection circuit, combining sold state electronics and a gas filled discharge tube (GDT). This combination is designed for exceptionally low line resistance and adds only a small voltage drop to the system whilst providing surge protection up to 20kA.

Features and Benefits

• Protection for two loops per SLP, or a single four-wire circuit
• Multi-stage hybrid protection circuit up to 20kA maximum surge current
• Range of voltage ratings to suit all process I/O applications
• Designed for high bandwidth, low resistance applications
• ATEX Certified

Eaton MTL Surge Suppressor Unit, 32V, 20kA Maximum Surge Current - SLP Series - SLP32D/RS

Protect valuable electronic equipment with this surge suppressor unit from Eaton MTL. It safeguards devices by blocking or diverting voltage spikes that can be caused by occurrences like lightning strikes, short circuits or the switching on of fluorescent lights. It uses a reliable multi-stage hybrid protection circuit to provide low-line resistance and surge protection up to 20kA (kiloamperes). You can use this unit to prevent damage to instruments like gaming consoles, entertainment systems and computer networks.

• Ultra-slim (12mm deep) and DIN rail mounted so you can install it in confined spaces and stack it with other modules
• Suitable for use in hazardous and explosive atmospheres

Can I use this surge suppressor in harsh industrial environments?

Yes – this device can operate at temperatures ranging between -40°C and +80°C, so it's suitable for use in demanding indoor and outdoor settings.

When should I use a surge suppressor?

It's advisable to install surge suppressors for all your high-value electronic equipment, including screens and consoles, as a voltage spike can cause irreparable damage.

Eaton formerly known as MTL

Surge Protection Devices, SPDs (DIN-rail)

Voltage surges, often referred to as spikes or transients are typically caused by switching of fluorescent lights, fuses blowing or nearby lightning activity. The worst voltage spikes are usually caused by lightning strikes and can reach up to 6000V, with current surges of over 3000A. The maximum size of the let-through voltage and current inrush depends on the location within the building's wiring system. BS7671: 2011 Amendment 1 Sections 443 and 534 cover risk assessment and provides guidance on protection of electronic equipment for installation engineers to follow. The fullest information on lightning and surge protection comes from the BSEN 62305 series of standards.
