Drawn Cup Roller Clutches

INA from Schaeffler drawn cup roller clutches are one-way clutches comprising thin‑walled, drawn outer rings with a series of ramps on the inside diameter. There are also plastic cages, pressure springs and needle rollers. They can transmit high torques in one direction and are compact in a radial direction.

Drawn cup roller clutches give precise indexing, since the individual spring loading of the needle rollers ensures continuous contact between the shaft, needle rollers and ramps. They allow high indexing frequencies due to their low mass and the resulting low moment of inertia of the clamping elements. They also have a low overrunning frictional torque.

Features and Benefits

• Lower operating costs

• Reduced maintenance due to improved lubrication

• Lower heat generation

• Less noise

• Roller clutches, HF series, do not have a bearing arrangement and can only transmit torques

• Roller clutches, HFL series, have an integral plain or rolling bearing arrangement and can support torques and radial forces.

Product Application Information

Drawn cup roller clutches can be used in various applications such as indexing clutches, back-stopping clutches and overrunning clutches. In these cases, the drawn cup roller clutch performs an overrunning or locking function.

With an inside diameter of 16mm and an outside diameter of 22mm, it offers versatility in various mechanical setups. The bearing is engineered to handle substantial loads, featuring a dynamic load rating of 7400N and a static load rating of 9000N, making it suitable for robust industrial environments.

Features & Benefits

• Supports high torque requirement with a torque rating of 20.5 Nm
• Capable of withstanding over-running speeds of up to 8500 rpm
• Optimal for demanding industrial clutch solutions
• Effective load management with dynamic and static ratings
• Compact design allowing easy integration into existing systems

Applications

• Ideal for use in mechanical systems requiring high torque
• Used for automation equipment needing reliable over-running clutch functionality
• Suitable for electrical drives for efficient power transmission
• Recommended for in the mechanical industry where load ratings are crucial

What specific advantages does a sprag clutch bearing provide in high-speed operations?

The bearing's design allows for effective back-stopping, ensuring that motion in the reverse direction is prevented, which is vital in high-speed machinery. This enhances mechanical reliability and longevity during operation.

How does the dynamic load rating influence selection for specific applications?

The dynamic load rating indicates how much load the bearing can handle while in motion. A rating of 7400N means it's suitable for applications with significant rotational forces, ensuring durability and performance under pressure.

What role does the race width play in the overall performance of this bearing?

A race width of 26mm contributes to the bearing’s ability to manage stress and load. This dimension helps maintain structural integrity and stability, particularly in demanding industrial applications where space is limited.
