Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440G-T27124 Solenoid Interlock Switch

Experience efficient, cost-effective, and reliable safe-access to machinery for personnel with the 440G-T27124 Solenoid Interlock Switch, with Power-to-Release, 110V ac/dc, by Allen Bradley Guardmaster.

The 440G-T27124 switch is a safety interlock switch which is positive mode and tongue operated, with Power-to-Release functionality. This TLS-1-GD2 device has a supply voltage of 110VAC/DC and features 2NC Safety Contacts, 1NO Auxiliary Contact, and 2NC Solenoid Contacts. The housing material is UL approved glass-filled PBT for greater durability and it has an operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C (-4…+140 °F). It features M20 conduit entry and has a thermal current of 10A, and rated insulation voltage of 500V. For added protection against actuator damage it is fitted with a resilient stainless-steel actuator guide. It is suitable for use with PLCs.

This safety switch works by securely locking a machine guard door closed while machinery is running. It also isolates power while the guard is open. This prevents personnel from accessing a potentially hazardous area and reduces risk of injury. The internal solenoid of the switch must be energised by an external signal in order to release the locking mechanism. This type of guard locking switch is ideally suited for use with machinery that has a longer stopping period.

Features and Benefits:

• Excellent security and stability due to its high locking force of 2000 N (450 lb)

• Can be used in wet environments due to IP67 rating, which ensures that it is dust-tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water

• Three manual release points with security screws for use in the event of an emergency

• Rapid troubleshooting due to convenient lid mount status indication

• Ideal for use with hinge, sliding, and lift-off doors

• It has a rotatable head with 2 entry slots and 4 possible actuator entry positions, with blanking plug provided to seal the unused slot

• Key release lids available for unlocking the locking mechanism in emergencies

Note:

Actuator is not supplied and must be ordered separately. This switch incorporates a power-to-unlock function.

Warning:

With the “power to lock” function switches, provisions are required to ensure that a dangerous situation cannot result from open circuit faults or power cuts.

What are Solenoid Interlock Switches?

A solenoid interlock switch is a type of safety switch with an internal solenoid; a wire coil which converts electrical energy to mechanical. This type of mechanism limits access to dangerous areas where machinery may be functioning by ensuring that that barriers remain securely shut. The safety guard can only be opened through either energising (Power to Release) or de-energising (Power to Lock) the solenoid with an external signal. They are often used in industrial environments, for example with high inertia rotating machines.
