Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440G-MT47013 Solenoid Interlock Switch

The 440G-MT47013 Solenoid Interlock Switch by Allen Bradley Guardmaster provides secure guard-locking and improves protection for machine operators in hazardous areas. The 440G-MT family are dependable heavy-duty safety switches which are best suited for use with machinery which does not immediately stop when the power supply is removed, or which could be damaged by interference while in motion.

The 440G-MT is a positive mode, tongue operated safety interlock switch. It works by keeping the guard securely locked until a signal is applied to the internal solenoid. This will then release the lock mechanism and allow the safety barrier to open. It will prevent power running to the machine while the barrier is open, so that personnel cannot physically access the area while machinery is in motion. This helps to decrease risk of injury to machine operators and reduce downtime.

The 440G-MT47013 guard-locking switch is Power-To Release. It has 3NC safety contacts, 1 NO auxiliary contact. The housing material is made of die-cast painted zinc alloy, offering superior durability. Due to this, the switch can be used in harsh environments. The holding force is 1500N (337 lbs), ensuring greater stability of the safety guard. It has a solenoid voltage of 110V ac/dc and the solenoid power is 13W typical 100% ED. This unit comes with M20 conduit entry. It also has Break-Before-Make action. This versatile safety switch is sealed to IP67 and is highly suitable for use in wet environments. It is fully protected against ingress of dust particles and can withstand temporary immersion in water. It has a minimum operating radius of 60mm.

Features and Benefits:

• Ideally suited for use in harsh environments such as industrial settings due to heavy-duty die-cast painted zinc alloy housing
• Environmentally sealed to IP67, allowing use in environments with regular washdowns
• Reliable high locking force of 1500N (337 lbs)
• Embedded LED provides clear visual indication of the status of the switch: ’door open’, ’door shut and unlocked’, and ’door shut and locked’

How do Solenoid Interlock Switches work?

Solenoid interlock switches work by having their internal solenoid energised (Power to Release) or de-energised (Power to Lock) by an external signal. The solenoid is a wire coil which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. These types of safety switches are often used in industrial environments on machine guards to monitor the barrier status and limit unsafe access to hazardous equipment. They ensure that safety barriers remain securely locked while dangerous processes are running. They are useful with machinery that does not instantly stop, such as high inertia rotating machines.

Rockwell Automation is a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, and brings smart manufacturing to life. With a long legacy of creating Allen-Bradley® integrated control and information solutions, we help make you as productive as possible. Our portfolio of sensing, safety and motor control products can support your move towards smart machine applications. Allen-Bradley® IO-Link sensors are data-enabled and communicate with all field buses, providing diagnostic and health information about the device before a machine stops, and enabling quick production changeovers through fast parameter downloads from PLCs into the device. This reduces machine downtime and increases manufacturing OEE. For safety components, products with built-in diagnostics simplify the set-up of the smart device, and reduce maintenance, leading to a more efficient, machine data-driven approach.
