What is the difference between a straight-through and null modem serial cable?
A null modem serial cable or sometimes referred to as crossover cable, connects two DTE devices without the use of a DCE devices in between. For this to happen, the Transmit (TXD) and Receive (RXD) pins on one of the serial connectors are flipped. Whereas a straight-through serial cable is a serial cable type, usually used to connect a DTE device to a DCE device.
