SKF Seal, 20mm Inside Diameter, 47mm Outside Diameter - 20X47X7 HMS5 RG

This radial shaft seal provides a pressure-retaining Interface between rotating and stationary components in machinery, preventing loss of oil or grease while accommodating minor shaft misalignment. It is designed with a rubber outer diameter and a single elastomeric sealing lip reinforced by a garter spring to maintain consistent radial contact under dynamic conditions.

Features & Benefits

• Operates up to 100°C with short peaks to 120°C for thermal resilience
• Permissible circumferential speed 4.12 m/s allowing moderate rpm operation
• Rotational capability to 3,960 r/min for typical industrial drives
• Rubber outside diameter for secure housing fit and vibration damping
• Garter spring maintains radial load for sustained sealing pressure
• Elastomer lip resists oil and grease to reduce leakage risk

**Applications**

• Suitable for pumps requiring axial sealing in oil circuits
• Ideal for gearboxes with rotating shafts in automation systems
• Used with electric motors where shaft sealing is essential
• Can be used for rotating assemblies in mechanical drives
• Used for maintenance replacement in metric machinery components

What shaft size does this seal accommodate?

It is intended for shafts with a 20mm diameter and fits into housings sized for a 47mm bore.

What material composes the sealing lip and what environments suit it?

The sealing lip is MADE from NBR nitrile rubber which performs well with oils and greases and across the stated temperature range.

How does the design cope with slight misalignment?

The combination of a flexible elastomer lip and a garter spring permits the lip to follow minor shaft run-out while keeping contact pressure.

What are the limits for differential pressure and how does this affect installation?

The seal tolerates a pressure differential of 0.03 N/mm, so installations should avoid sustained high-pressure differentials and ensure correct orientation.
